SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
This is a multi-disciplinary engineering role requiring knowledge, skills and prior experience in project management, vendor management, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Your role would involve managing allocation of resources (financial, manpower, time and vendor resources); structuring and delegating sub-projects to the company’s engineering teams; and documenting and presenting project updates to project stakeholders, including customers, government funding bodies and the company’s management. You are expected to own the project and be responsible for the success (or failure) of the project.
The position also requires the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and candidly in spoken and written English. You are expected to be self-motivated, reliable, thorough, intellectually curious and excited about how your work contributes to the development of products with the potential to dramatically reshape global energy infrastructure dynamics.
Key Qualifications
- Degree in Electronics and/or Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proven track record of timely and on-budget management of complex mechanical/electrical/product engineering projects.
- Able to i) dissect large projects into bite-sized sub-projects with clear and granular tracking metrics; ii) delegate sub-projects to engineering teams and motivate teams to deliver; and iii) monitor progress and assist development teams in achieving goals on their sub-projects.
- Excellent proficiency in project management tools and best practices.
- Inquisitive and critical mind: able to challenge ideas and information when it doesn’t make sense and through research or prior experience, able to propose solutions to problems which you have not previously encountered.
- Must be able to work independently: find and resolves issues before they become terminal; you are a self-starter who is able to overcome obstacles to achieve results, whatever the circumstance.
Specific duties may include:
- Draft, review, manage and follow through with applications for project grants with funding bodies – you will be the central contact point for externally funded projects and are expected to know details of the project inside-out.
- Develop project execution plans and see the execution of projects through completion by working with the company’s engineering, marketing, business development, finance and management teams.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the progress of both sub-projects and the overall project, compare against external milestones and internal targets.
