Head of Engineering
Description
We are now seeking a seasoned leader to oversee and build a world-class software development team to create the next generation of our leading video creation technology. You will collaborate cross-functionally with exceptional professionals in Hong Kong, Taipei, and the San Francisco Bay Area to advance an already world-class SaaS platform to a whole new level.
Deep technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and strong business acumen are essential in this role. If you are well versed in current technology trends and have a strong technology leadership background in a rapidly growing international SaaS company, we’d like to meet you.
Responsibilities
● Establish the company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s technological development with a focus on delivering business value
● Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
● Maintain up to date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
● Lead the company’s software development, R&D, QE/QA, and Devops teams
● Lead multiple teams of engineers building scalable multi-tenanted SaaS applications
● Hire, mentor and grow passionate individuals who work well in strong teams
● Champion engineering and operational excellence
● Oversee the management of complex technical projects and drive them to outcomes
● Make critical decisions that attribute to the success of the product
● Own the technical roadmap for all services
● Build and oversee quality assurance and data protection processes
● Ensure compliance with all applicable data infrastructure security and data privacy laws, from a software development, management, and quality assurance perspective
● Work with legal counsel on Intellectual Property (IP) issues related to patents, trade secrets, and license contracts
● Ensure technology standards and best-practices are used in the development of all technology used in the provision of services
● Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
● Maintain and foster our culture by recruiting, hiring, and mentoring highly qualified individuals with an eye towards diversity
● Occasionally contribute to development tasks such as coding and feature verifications to assist teams with release commitments, to gain understanding of our product as well as to keep your technical acumen sharp
Requirements
● Minimum of four years proven experience in a product development role
● Seven to ten years’ experience in a senior leadership role in software development
● Track record of consistently and predictably developing and delivering quality products
● Track record in overcoming tough technical challenges and developing intellectual property
● Strong knowledge of technology trends
● Some experience with AI a strong plus
● Understanding of budgets and business-planning
● Ability to conduct technology analyses and research
● Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills, leading at least a 15-20 person software development organization
● Strategic thinker, with a can-do, problem-solving aptitude
● Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or related field. Masters degree preferred
● Good command of English
