Velotric is a rapidly growing electric bike startup led by hardware co-founder of Lime, Adam Zhang and comprise of minds from the likes of Lime, Giant, Specialized and Decathlon. We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals who are excited at the prospect of joining our rapidly growing startup in a niche but rapidly growing space (the global ebike market is expected to grow from 26.5 billion USD in 2021 to just under 62.3 billion in 2030 – i.e. all in this decade).
About the Role
We’re looking for a Marketing Communications Manager who has a strong background in communications (DTC/B2C, influencers, PR) and is able to collaborate with the core team in China to drive clear internal communications standards across the board. You’re organized, analytical and possess excellent communication and collaboration abilities. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for representing the company's brand as effectively as possible through PR and KOL/Influencer efforts.
Position Summary
You’ll be working closely with the Communications Lead to:
- Drive Public Relations efforts for the company, including but not limited to:
Communicating and coordinating with our PR agency to drive coverage. Ability to independently review results and suggest improvements to PR plan. Familiarity with Muck Rack is a plus.
- Research, plan and execute Events. Research industry events and suggest participation plans if applicable.
- Work with Comms Lead and KOL/Social Media manager to research KOLs and keep track of progress. Support in KOL relationship building efforts.
- Help drive projects such as product launches, communicating between internal and external parties.
- Work in collaboration with the Product Marketing team to ensure that communications and product positioning are on-brand, accurate, and marketable before launch.
- Help create internal structures and SOPs to ensure internal communication is crisp, clear and harmonized across multiple departments and channels (e.g. across website, social media, customer service, etc.) Sample projects of internal communications include:
- Creating a comms document that internal parties can reference to understand key pieces of information (a wiki). Training the team to refer and use said document.
- Creating a content calendar which encompasses updates from our multiple departments (DTC, Customer Service, Product Marketing)
- Social Media Community Engagement and Management. Ensure timely engagement across all owned channels to start. You will be reviewing the work done by the team and keeping track of blips or issues that might be mentioned multiple times to ensure we create a response before to avert a communication crisis.
- Helping to review and copy edit work across departments to ensure messaging is native to the US market.
- Ability to review our comms effort in via data and setting up regularly reports and dashboards.
What you’ll need to have:
- 3 or more years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably with influencers/content creators, and public relations.
- Strong organization and project coordination ability– collaborate with multiple parties and drive a clear internal communications structure that informs our comms strategy.
- Comfortable in creating regular reports with analytics and numbers to substantiate findings and updates.
- Think Critically - understand business and its evolving needs.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Good command of reading and speaking in Mandarin to communicate with the internal team.
- Community management and customer relationship experience is a plus.
- Experience in the bike industry or sport products is a plus.
