Matters is a decentralized content publishing and discussion platform for creators to publish, manage, license, and monetize their work. We believe that individual creativity is the smallest unit’s freedom and discussion is the smallest unit’s public. With the support of decentralized technology, we hope to break the monopoly, penetrate censorship, and explore a more decentralized content ecology and business model.

Starting in 2018, Matters stored all creators’ content to IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) node storage; the official version of Matters.news was launched in March 2019; Matters introduced LikeCoin in October 2019, and the platform effect was returned to the author in the form of reward. In May of this year, micropayments were realized, allowing creators to receive rewards from more channels; in July, Matters launched an open-source project to invite more technical partners to participate in community development.

So far, Matters has attracted more than 50,000 registered creators, and it is visited by millions of readers every month. In September last year, Matters was selected by the largest accelerator in Taiwan and Southeast Asia, AppWorks; in May this year, Matters won the 2020 Google News Initiative (GNI) Innovation Challenge Award. In July this year, Matters was selected for the Hong Kong University’s Innovation Incubation Media-X Project.
