OVERVIEW
Decoded is looking for a Senior Product Developer to join our APAC Product Team. This is a unique role blending subject matter expertise, instructional design, content creation and teaching. You will be part of a team responsible for creating and delivering world-class educational content on the latest emerging technology.
The two products you will be working on are our Mindset and Skillset programs which help build data and digital acumen across our clients.
Our Mindset program demystifies the world of emerging technology from cybersecurity to data ethics for digital leaders. Through storytelling, we break down the origins of these topics from a human perspective, while building up literacy around terminology and how those techniques apply to the business world.
Our Skillset program is our global accelerated technical skills development program, focusing on modern data science and machine learning as well as traditional data analytics. Content covered includes various feature engineering techniques, classical as well as deep machine learning algorithms and applied data science techniques to real-world problems, in a business context.
SPECIFIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Product Developer, you will work in small, cross-functional teams to solve problems identified and prioritised by the business. You are accountable for:
1. Teaching Decoded workshops
Delivering excellent, interactive sessions (virtual/in person) to Decoded learners (~2 days per week)
Maintaining a balance of 70% external delivery to 30% development and LXD work
Focus on enhancing your skills as a Mindset facilitator
2. Program product development
Creating world-class educational content and interactive assets for professionals
Integrating cutting-edge industry-relevant technology practices
Focus on enhancing skills as a curriculum developer and learning designer
Module ownership of Decoded product content
3. Upholding product excellence
Assisting with the delivery of Decoded teacher training
Development of other Decoded teaching material and internal tools where necessary
Decoded is growing rapidly and changing all the time. Whatever you start within your first quarter, it is likely that you will work on a combination of projects over time.
Requirements
WHO ARE YOU?
Our Product Developers are a community of technology and data science enthusiasts. Our learners love the Decoded team for their blend of science and humanity, combining technical expertise and a passion for education.
Our Product Developers have backgrounds ranging from Theoretical Physics to Clinical Psychology with experience ranging from secondary school teaching to academic research. They have applied their skills within academic and business settings, and whatever their background, they are all:
Goal-oriented, go-getters with 3-5 years of work experience (postgraduate education counts!)
Graduates in a quantitative field, or have comparable work experience (mathematics, physics, finance, engineering...)
Confident and engaging communicators
Experienced in coding in a high-level language such as Javascript, Python or R
Experienced with Git version control
Unfazed by the challenge of learning new programming languages and data analysis techniques
Interested in different business industries, particularly financial, retail, government, and manufacturing
Passionate about data, technology, and storytelling
Excited by helping people solve their own business problems, big and small
Self-motivated, take initiative within a small tight-knit team, and like nothing better than getting things done.
Constant curiosity and proactive research into new learning technology and design ideas
Preference for Hong Kong-based and open to working across time zones when there are operations needs
Although not strictly necessary, it's a big bonus if you are:
Experienced in web app development
Experienced in fundamentals of computer science and cybersecurity
Experienced with RESTful APIs and cloud technologies
Experienced in teaching at any level
Experienced in line management
Familiarity with digital and technology landscape across APAC regions
Fluent in Cantonese and/or Mandarin
