Position: Marketing, Communications and Events Intern, Asia
Description:
Advance seeks a dynamic, bilingual self-starter to assist marketing, communications and events associate in Asia. The Marketing, Communications and Events Intern will report to the Asia Director, and work closely with the Global Manager, Marketing and Communications, and Manager Online Engagement.
Advance in Asia is focused on expanding awareness of the Advance brand, increasing engagement of it’s members and working on service solutions to issues relevant to Australian diaspora and alumni of Australian universities.
This is a part-time, flexible and work from home position for up to 6 months.
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential members, ensure Salesforce records are maintained and updated, create and manage member groups relevant to different Asia markets and activities.
- Manage event logistics, including venue sourcing, catering, AV, sourcing vendors as required
- Create invitations, track RSVPs and manage check in at Advance events
- Work with videographers, production and editing teams to produce video content
- Work with Advance global team to develop original and source existing Asia-relevant content for global social media platforms, manage and schedule Advance’s We Chat and other Asia-relevant platforms (e.g. Yoku, Weibo)
- Translate global content into Chinese, or engage and manage contractors for translation services.
- Build relationships with media and industry organisations to raise awareness of Advance
- Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
- Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by Advance
- Collaborating with Advance staff on new ideas and directions for marketing and communications
- Adminster and report on event evaluations to measure event effectiveness
Qualifications:
- Completed or working toward a university degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
- Bilingual: English and Chinese (Mandarin)
- Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space, especially WeChat
- Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
- Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus. Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM a plus.
- An effective communicator, both written and oral
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Experience with/or interest in working with global, talent-focused not-for-profit organisation.
