In this full-day front-end workshop on Wednesday February 21st 2018, Jeremy Keith will be showing and teaching us how to get the most out of today's web.

The web is a design medium like no other. We can design and develop specifically for different audiences who use different browsers, have varying internet speeds on wildly different devices, just to make sure everybody has the best experience possible.

The workshop
This workshop will teach you how to think in a progressive way. Together we’ll peel back the layers of the web and build upwards, creating experiences that work for everyone. From URL design to Progressive Web Apps, this journey will cover each stage of technological advancement.

What you’ll learn
In the workshop you'll learn how to think about the real value that users are looking for: instead of starting with swiping, clicking, dragging or dropping, we’ll think about shopping, sharing, reading and writing. Once we truly understand what our users are looking for, we can design and develop the right interaction for them.

We’ll take a look at the latest in browser technologies and see how they can be used in a creative and responsible way. JavaScript APIs, offline access with Service Workers, even notifications—there’s so much we can do to improve the experience of using the web …if we use these technologies wisely. After the workshop you not only understand much better what options you have, but you also know how to apply these solutions responsibly.

Who it’s for
This workshop is meant for (UX) designers and developers from all levels. Design and/or development experience is a plus, but you don’t need coding skills per se. The concepts are more important than the code, and you can start applying the concepts the next day at work.

What to bring
You won’t need a computer. We’ll use pen and paper. And our brains.
