Panel with Hugo Lui, Nelson Lei & Lavine Hemlani

About this Event

The wealth management industry is more than 200 years old and for a large part of that history, providers have operated according to the same general playbook. The massive digital and regulatory disruption of recent years has finally begun to shake up the industry, but many providers are still holding on to their traditional ways. The new business models are so different to what most firms have been building on that it requires extensive rethinking and retooling.

Join us in an exploration of wealth management innovations and find out how software solutions can make investing easier, better and accessible to more people.

About the speakers:

Hugo Lui

Founder of ETFCOOL.com

Hugo was previously employed at the Citigroup Global Headquarters in New York City. He performed analysis regarding stock and ETF shares, Index Option Valuation, and managed Citibank’s global technology transformation. Furthermore, he worked at the Global Asset Management Department at the Bank of New York Mellon Financial Corporation in New York. In addition, he worked in Bank of America Merrill Lynch Wall Street office. Previously, he created a web portal for US investors in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and market analysis. He has experience in investment and technology management for over 20 years. Hugo attended the University of Chicago and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in policy and Business Economics and a master’s degree in International Economics. Additionally, he earned his Master of Science degree in Accounting and Finance at the Graduate school of Business Management of Boston College University in Boston Massachusetts USA.

In New York and in Hong Kong, entrepreneurs and young professional alike came to Hugo for investing advice. But he often couldn’t recommend the services he used because the minimums and fees were too high — especially for students. He saw a need to democratize access to sophisticated investment products. And he decided to do something about it. And so he realized software could make investing easier and better for more people, leading him to create ETFCOOL.com.

Nelson Lei

Investment Manager at ETFCOOL.com

Nelson Lei is an investment representative in Alpha Bright Asset Management. He has more than 5 years’ experience in investing stock market in Hong Kong. Before joining Alpha Bright, Nelson worked in the Big 4 accounting firms as an auditor and consultant for companies listed in US and Hong Kong.

In Alpha Bright, he concentrates on the investment needs of affluent and mid-small sized net worth families and business. He develops rigorous strategies to investing and wealth management planning to help clients determine their financial needs and risk tolerance.
