Social innovations are new social practices that aim to meet social needs in a better way than the existing solutions, resulting from - for example - working conditions, education, community development or health.
There are many definitions of social innovation, however, they usually include the broad criteria about social objectives, social interaction between actors or actor diversity, social outputs, and innovativeness (The innovation should be at least "new" to the beneficiaries it targets, but it does not have to be new to the world).
Social innovation means being more strategic, more ambitious and more collaborative in how access resource. And it means opportunity can be provided for billions of low-income people to participate in the global economy.
Therefore, the ideas and projects of this Startupweekend will be proposed and completed around the theme of social innovation.
Of course, in addition to the social benefits and innovation of the project, the project evaluation criteria will also consider the economic benefits of the project.
