He will share his personal story switching careers to become a data scientist.

With experience in a large traditional conglomerate, Cal will talk about the unique challenges of applying new techniques to old industries.

One of the major gaps in industry right now is a lack of leaders who understand how to leverage data science to add business value, and the biggest challenges a data scientist (at a non-tech company) faces is not in applying a gradient-boosted regression but in identifying good opportunities within the business and working with stakeholders to operationalize algorithms.
