The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park’s (HKSTP) Global Acceleration Academy aims to deliver world-class opportunities for startups from around the world to develop business with top corporations in HK. Recently HKSTP launched two accelerators - GAA Smart Airways and Smart Operations Accelerators with Cathay Pacific, HK Airport Authority, MTR, HK Disneyland and Regal Hotels. In the program startups will be working to fit or develop their solution to the problem statements that these corporations have identified. Part of that participation is active mentorship with the corporation partner(s) and to pitch their solution for further business opportunity.

Global Acceleration Academy – Smart Airways Accelerator

• Gap Analysis & Mentorship by Cathay Pacific
• Partnering Cathay Pacific – Hong Kong’s home carrier offering scheduled passenger and cargo services to over 200 destinations using a fleet of around 200 aircraft
• Series of Startup Business Training

Solutions needed

• Enhance customer experience by leveraging real-time data
• Optimise resource management for CX’s operations
• Lean and digitalise processes to achieve working efficiency and effectiveness
• Train employees with gamified experience
• Reduce wastage and single-use plastic throughout the whole end-to-end process

Shortlisted acceleratees may get

• Intensive mentorship from Cathay Pacific to drive business growth
• Opportunity to conduct POCs with Cathay Pacific and its partners
• Opportunity to showcase in the Demo Day
• Flight tickets & Asia Miles

Key Highlights of these Accelerators:

• Business tour and understanding of Hong Kong/Greater Bay Area China market
• Mentorship from corporate partner(s)
• Proof-of-concept opportunity with corporate partner(s)
• Up to HK$20,000 flight & accommodation allowance for overseas participants (for 2 trips)
• Showcase at Demo Day for business adoption (if POC is selected)
   

For international participants - selected overseas startups can participate in their home countries with the expectation of attending the interim review/POC pitch (week 4) and/or final Demo Day (week 13) in Hong Kong. The interim review includes an orientation program/tour to understand how to develop business in the HK/China market. If selected for the POC, overseas participants will be present their POC in HK during the Demo Day. Both trips to HK are subsidized of up to HK$10,000 for each trip.
