What is #inspirehacks?
We are a platform for all people, regardless of their professional or academic background, to connect & co-design local solutions that ‘hack’ various, global ‘Future of’ topics. We are starting in Hong Kong with the Future of Work. #inspirehacksHK
But ‘hack’ means a bunch of tech guys coding, right? No!
Hacking’, in its most basic form, is a group of people collaborating in a design sprint format to quickly come up with solutions to problems. We are not a hackathon. Our chosen methodology is design thinking.
Design sprint’ and ‘design thinking’ - can you elaborate?
You do not need to be an artist or creative to do ‘design’. We are using design sprints as a format for coming up with ideas, which is essentially problem-solving in a short period of time. These sprints are often completed using the 4 main stages of design thinking: a methodology for building solutions.
Okay, so how does it work?
We will have several events across the year during weekday evenings in small groups across two hours. With this context, we will condense, tailor & divide the #inspirehacks design stages as follows:
1. Empathise & define (15 minutes): understand the problem & concisely summarise
2. Ideate & prototype (15 minutes): develop ideas & choose one key solution
3. Test (15 minutes): ask for feedback on the solution from other groups
4. Iterate (15 minutes): refine your solution based on the feedback.
5. Pitch (3 minutes): propose your solution.
Fun! But what happens with our solutions?
During ‘Pitch’, stage 5, we will collectively decide on the best solution. We will then suggest avenues and potential partners for you to have the opportunity to further test, develop and possibly implement your idea as an ongoing #inspirehacks initiative: co-implement.

Join us for our inaugural event in Hong Kong!
1. You don't need a laptop.
2. You don't need any design strategy experience.
3. You will need to bring inspiration!
