Abstract

Due to globalization and advanced development of technology, the digital economy has been growing rapidly.  As a result, companies are facing increasing challenges from complicated tax issues in operating businesses digitally in multiple countries and should be aware of the tax risks involved.

This brief information session will give IT professionals a better understanding of the tax implications on digital economy in Hong Kong, including the overall tax practice in relation to the digital economy, implications of recent revamp of international tax rules and the possible challenges from tax authorities.

Concluding Remarks

The subject can be of enormous tax saving benefit to clients in the e-commerce industry as it sets the amount payable is in fact often times negotiable with the Inland Revenue Department.
