What does it take to build a robust startup community?
Rome was not built in a day! Developing a robust community requires continuous dialogue among governments, community builders, venture capitalists, entertainment industry, technology companies, Ambitious and serial entrepreneurs, universities, event organisers, curious individuals! Yes, we want to get everyone involved!
In this community night, WHub - the community builder in Hong Kong - will be discussing with Macau’s local ecosystem players on the strategies and vision for supporting the entrepreneurs from both regions, and hear from the aspirational individuals on your idea of the resources needed to support local innovation.

Meet the speakers:
Kenny Lei (Co-Founder of Macau Startup Club)
Kenny is a community builder, hospitality technology expert as well as a developer. He participated in the first Startup Weekend in 2017, and organized the first full Startup Weekend in Macau in 2018. In the same year, he and other co-founders founded Macao Startup Club to continue supporting local startups and young entrepreneurs. Since 2018, there were 19 startup events organized, including networking sessions, workshops, seminars and 5 Startup Weekends.
João Albuquerque (Founder of Seeding Angels Ventures)
João started his career in the gaming industry, soon after the launch of The Venetian Macao Casino as a Surveillance department Operator. He then moved on to the government sector serving the DICJ, Macau Gambling Inspection Bureau, where he played a role as a technical staff. He had since then developed and pursued his interest and passion for Financial Markets and Financial Instruments, mostly in Foreign Exchange and Commodities trading for a privately funded Micro Hedge fund. Moving with time, he is now participating in Fintech and Blockchain technologies, playing a role as an investor and advisor. Recently founded Seeding Angels Ventures and A2P – DPI, Lda, a Startup specialized in developing B2B, B2C and C2C business “Trust” assurance platforms.
João also plays an active role in collaboration with Startup blink platform in the promotion of the ecosystem, events and development of local Macau Startup community.
Josephine Chan (Community Manager of WHub)
Josephine is WHub’s Community Manager and has years of CRM/business development experience in both the corporate and startup ecosystems. She is passionate about helping startups scale and grow by connecting them to the resources they need. She believes that one of they key drivers of startup success is through creating and maintaining a professional yet personable network, where individuals can leverage the strength of the community. Josephine is also a coach and through this aims to help people identify their strengths and uncover their passions. She is also a strong women’s advocate and leads the speaker team of TEDxTinHauWomen
