In this 1-hour coding workshop, you will learn how to code your very first instant chat room using Socket.io! 

Socket.io is a powerful tool that gives developers the ability to create powerful applications with bidirectional communication. In this workshop we will delve into how to develop your own chat room servers, a frontend that can interact with your server as well as the underlying technologies used to achieve this. 

We’ll also have a short Q&A and discussion on how you can pursue a career as a web developer, what the different career opportunities are, and answer any questions you may have.

Pre-Event Preparations

Before this workshop you will need to install a couple of things on your machine, we will need to install NodeJs and NPM on your machine before we can start. Also it would be useful to download the boilerplate code. We’ll provide instructions of this via email approximately a week before the event!
