ATEC is an annual not-for-profit technology conference organized by the alumni associations of some of the world’s pre-eminent academic institutions. The mission of ATEC is to foster technology entrepreneurship and to encourage the brightest minds in Asia to start high-impact technology-driven ventures for the benefit of the region and the world. The organizers of ATEC include:
• Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong
• Harvard Club of Hong Kong
• Columbia University Alumni Association of Hong Kong
• Columbia Business School Association of Hong Kong
• Stanford Club of South China
• MIT Club of Hong Kong
• MIT Sloan School of Management Alumni
ATEC will feature our annual ATEC Startup Competition, which will showcase some of the most innovative and promising entrepreneurs the region has to offer. The 10 selected contestant teams will each present a 5-minute pitch to an expected general audience of 400+ attendees. Each startup team will then have an opportunity for an 8-minute follow-up Q&A session with a panel of judges comprised of alumni venture capital investors. The audience and judging panel will then vote to select the ATEC Startup Competition Winners. We anticipate a prize money pool for this year’s ATEC of approximately HK$50,000. The Startup Competition will be open to all teams, regardless of alumni affiliation.
ATEC will also feature in-depth discussions on critical emerging trends in technology and business in Asia. The event agenda will feature four speakers participating in keynote fireside chats with industry leaders, as well as TED-talk style presentations from domain experts in such areas as Mobile Media and Mobile Commerce, AI and Big Data, Blockchain Apps and Crypto Assets, Robotics and IoT, and Autonomous Vehicles. ATEC will be open to digital, print and broadcast media, and will conclude with a VIP invitation-only dinner for event winners and guest speakers.
ATEC aims to provide participants with unparalleled learning and networking opportunities with investors, technology experts and industry professionals drawn from around the region and the combined alumni community. We hope that the annual ATEC conference will develop into an important contributor to the ongoing development and future success of the technology startup ecosystem in Asia.
The inaugural ATEC 2019 will be a full-day conference presented in partnership with the New World Group at their newly opened Arthouse, K11 Musea and K11 Atelier properties, located in the heart of the exciting Victoria Dockside arts and cultural district.
