About the Association:
FTAHK is an independent, not-for-profit, member driven association representing Hong Kong’s local and global FinTech community. Founded in 2017 the association is organised and led by the community, for the community. We are not-for-profit, independent and diverse.
The value of the Association is generated through the work and activities of 14 committees focusing on relevant technologies, talent, diversity and policy.

Aims of the Association:
The Association’s three initial aims are to:
Advocate - Aggregate a voice of the ecosystem, on behalf of our members, by engaging in positive and powerful bilateral discussion with regulators and governing bodies
Collaborate - Bring together all parts of the FinTech ecosystem to identify synergies and partnership opportunities amongst our local members and partner associations around the globe
Educate - Educate and empower the existing leaders in financial services and technology whilst nurturing the next generation of talent
General Manager Profile
Key Responsibilities:
The GM is responsible for running the day to day operation of the FTAHK including membership, events management, general admin and people management. The GM must be capable of representing the FTAHK internally and externally. The GM will report to the association’s board and liaise closely with the individual committee co-chairs to co-ordinate specific projects.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Association Vision and Strategy: Responsible for successfully implementing the immediate and long term strategy of the FTAHK
2. Leadership and Organisation Management: Providing astute, commercial organisational leadership and day-to-day management in a manner that embodies high governance standards and adds tangible value to members and other stakeholders
3. Multiple Stakeholder Management: Effectively balancing the needs of diverse internal and external stakeholders in an inclusive, transparent and collaborative manner. Stakeholders include members, HK government representatives, Board directors, committee members, etc.
4. Business Performance and Financial Health: Primary accountability for ensuring the association remains in good shape from an administrative perspective, adheres to all governance standards, as well as financially sound and healthy. Key performance indicators will encompass strategic, financial and culture-related measures
5. Membership Growth and Engagement: As we are a start up the focus in year 2 has been on acquiring new members and in year 3 - ensuring high retention/renewal of existing members. This should be aligned with high engagement levels amongst all member segments (evidenced by renewal rates, event attendance, committee participation and survey feedback)
6. Delivering Events: Working closely with Committees, Partners, Board and/or Members to deliver a calendar of relevant, engaging and well-supported events (both business oriented and social)
7. Advocacy: Driving the ongoing representation and communication of the FTAHK in Hong Kong through newsletters, blogs, maintenance of the website and effective harnessing of social media.
8. Cultural Health of Organisation: Create a working environment that engenders strong engagement and diversity (evidenced by low unwanted turnover, service delivery and member satisfaction)
Relevant Experience and Skill Sets:
· Strong marketing, strategic thinking and planning capability, with a demonstrated ability to develop and build an organisation from the ground up
· Work Experience of 6 to 12 years
· Ideally someone with a financial services background, but not mandatory
· High levels of commercial “savviness” and organisational awareness
· Team player, passionate, hardworking and entrepreneurial
· Proven ability to provide dynamic and inspirational leadership with high energy and enthusiasm
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and compellingly communicate and win support for the association’s vision and purpose. Confident presentation skills
· Good financial acumen, with a proven ability to run P&L as well as manage a budget
· Needs to have English, Mandarin and Cantonese language skills
- Remuneration will be competitive with performance based component
- Prior experience in running an association or working in FinTech preferred but not essential
